
Igor Butman Quartet
In 2024, the Igor Butman Quartet celebrated its landmark 25th anniversary alongside the Moscow Jazz Orchestra led by the Maestro. For over a quarter of a century, the ensemble has stood as a premier ambassador of Russian jazz, performing at major international festivals and gracing the stages of the world’s most prestigious concert halls.
The Quartet features a lineup of Russia’s most distinguished jazz virtuosos: pianist and vocalist Oleg Akkuratov, drummer Eduard Zizak, and double bassist Nikolai Zatolochny. Their repertoire includes original compositions by Igor Butman, timeless jazz standards, and unique arrangements of works by Russian composers.
Igor Butman (Saxophone)
A world-renowned saxophonist, composer, and producer, Igor Butman is a People’s Artist of Russia, a State Prize Laureate, and the primary global ambassador for Russian jazz. He has been honored with the Order «For Merit to the Fatherland,» IV degree. With a discography of over 20 albums, he has developed numerous programs for both the Quartet and the Moscow Jazz Orchestra. Maestro Butman is also the founder of twelve major national festivals, including the Moscow and Saint Petersburg Jazz Festivals.
Oleg Akkuratov (Piano, Vocals)
Oleg Akkuratov is a unique talent, equally brilliant in both classical and jazz performance. A soloist with the Moscow Jazz Orchestra and leader of his own trio, he is a recipient of the Presidential Award for Young Cultural Professionals. Oleg performed at the Closing Ceremony of the XI Paralympic Games and the World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi. In 2018, he took second place at the prestigious Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition (USA), and in 2020, he was a finalist on the ninth season of The Voice.
Eduard Zizak (Drums)
A soloist with the Moscow Jazz Orchestra and a cornerstone of Igor Butman’s Quartet and Trio, Eduard Zizak is widely recognized as one of the world’s finest drummers.
Nikolai Zatolochny (Double Bass)
An award-winning double bassist and bass guitarist, Nikolai Zatolochny joined the Moscow Jazz Orchestra and the Igor Butman Quartet in 2023. A veteran of the Great Jazz television project, he has collaborated with many legendary Russian and international artists.
